The National Assembly Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, at an extraordinary session on October 26, issued a positive first-reading opinion on a package of amendments to the law on family and domestic violence. The package was authored by Civil Contract MPs Zaruhi Batoyan, Sona Ghazaryan and Tsovinar Vardanyan. Strong Armenia MP Marianna Ghahramyan had proposed postponing the discussion and obtaining the Venice Commission's opinion, but Civil Contract MPs voted against.
