Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan said on October 26 that construction of the Ajapnyak metro station must begin next year, regardless of the outcome of negotiations with international partners. According to him, the land needed for the station will be declared an overriding public interest, with a decision expected within a month. Avinyan noted that the construction must be carried out by an Armenian company, including as part of a consortium.
