Former CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha told RIA Novosti that Armenia should be expelled from the CSTO because it does not take part in the organization's work, yet decisions adopted by consensus must be agreed with it. In his view, Yerevan should leave the organization completely. In 2024, Armenia announced it was freezing its participation in the CSTO and stopped paying membership fees.
