French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez submitted his resignation after the riots that took place in several cities on October 17, but President Emmanuel Macron did not accept it. According to the Élysée Palace, the decision was driven by the need for uninterrupted command of law enforcement forces. Macron instructed the minister to apply new methods of action and to provide explanations regarding shortcomings in the work of law enforcement.
