The Interior Ministry's police said that driving on winter tires is mandatory from November 15 to March 31 inclusive. The operation of passenger cars and trucks weighing up to 3.5 tonnes will be prohibited if they are not fitted with winter tires. A ban also applies on icy or snow-covered roads if the remaining tread depth is 4 millimetres or less. Violations carry administrative liability.
